Added Support for MBA Entrepreneurship at Columbia Business School: MBA News
By Louise O'Conor
Updated UpdatedColumbia Business School has announced a new cooperative working space available to students who wish to focus on entrepreneurship, including MBAs.
The school's Eugene Lang Entrepreneurship Center has been aiding entrepreneurial MBA students and those from other programs the school offers since it was established in 1996. The new Columbia Entrepreneurs Lab is designed to take this one step further, offering accepted participants to the lab practical resources and mentorship opportunities to aid them in establishing new entrepreneurial ventures.
"The Entrepreneurship Lab is a collaboration between multiple schools across campus and an important milestone in Columbia University's efforts to prioritize the importance of entrepreneurship programming for all Columbia entrepreneurs," explains Professor Murray Low, director of the business school's Lang Center.
"Our goal in launching the lab was to provide a cooperative space that could serve as an incubator to some of the many impactful ideas housed in the minds of Columbia community members."

The first series of participants to the program have already been accepted, with a wide range of entrepreneurial ventures proposed.
One such venture, dubbed WordsEye, has already claimed a US$100,000 grand prize in the New York Business Plan Competition. The idea uses cutting-edge language processing, combined with a 3D graphics engine to create a rendering of any scene based on a person's spoken word.
Other ventures include a mobile app to help motorists find reliable repair shops, a website designed to help medical students find their ideal residency, and a community tool to help potential students find investment from their friends and family for their studies.
For those seeking to attend business school in order to start their own venture, there is a plethora of options available that combine lessons in entrepreneurship and an MBA education. However, all business schools and MBA programs vary in the intensity of their nurturing of entrepreneurship.
